Monroe County High School hires new volleyball coach
Monroe County High School is proud to announce the hiring of Mrs. Caitlin Rigdon as the 2017-2018 Head Volleyball Coach. Coach Rigdon brings with her to the court much experience. She is from Louisville, KY and attended Mercy Academy graduating in 2009. During high school, Coach Rigdon played volleyball as well as playing Club Volleyball for nine years. While on the Mercy High School team, Coach Rigdon and the team were Volleyball State Runners Up in 2007 and Volleyball State Champions and National Runners Up in 2008.
Upon graduating High School Coach Rigdon continued her volleyball career at Campbellsville University where the Lady Tigers were the NCCAA National Campions in 2009. She was the starting Libero from 2009 to 2012 and team captain in 2011 and 2012. While completing her degree, Coach Rigdon also coached as Barren County High School. Serving as Head Volleyball Coach in 2014.
Coach Rigdon has her MAT in Secondary Biology from Campbellsville University and is currently teaching biology and anatomy at the high school. MCHS is excited to welcome Caitlin to our Athletic Department and look for great things to come.
Coach Rigdon looks to continue building on the current volleyball program and hopes to strengthen the fundamentals of the upcoming team. She will have a young group of girls with MCHS graduating six seniors from this year’s team. Coach Rigdon plans to be as competitive as possible and wants to expand the volleyball program and introduce middle and elementary students as soon as possible through a camp in the summer.
