English II continues the refinement of the student’s skills in language arts. Students read, respond to, and interpret a variety of types of literature and journalistic writing and continue their study of the writing process, reinforcing their writing skills in addressing a variety of audiences and purposes. Student writing in context is used as the basis for teaching the skills of mechanics and usage. The content of the course is taken from the core content set forth by the state of Kentucky.
  • Flashbacks (Reviews)

Throughout the school year, we will be reviewing all aspects of the Kentucky core Content in Reading . In order to improve each student's reading comprehension and ability, they will be learning and practicing reading stratgies to be better prepared for all testing required by state and national levels, including the ACT.

  • Independent Reading

In an effort to develop the habit of reading independently and productively, students have selected a novel to read for a portion of class each day. Our goal is to complete at least one novel per nine weeks.
