Just a little information about me: I live in Northern Metcalfe County with my wife, Kayla and my one year old baby girl, Allie Jo. I help coach the Falcon football team and run the Y- Club here at the High School. When I am not at work I am either hunting, fishing, working on my small farm, or spending time with my family.
Welcome to Economics/Geography/Government (EGG) and US History class! This website will be used to keep everyone updated on what is going on in class. I will also use it as a way for students and parents to be able to access classroom material. If you cannot access some material, odds are it is on Google Classroom. Almost everything done in my class runs through Google Classroom. So if your student misses a day, they will most likely be able to complete whatever they missed while at home.
Also, if you are a Junior and are a part of my US History class there are resources on here for you as well.
Note to the Parents: Please do not get frustrated with your child about bad grades if they have missed an assignment recently or failed to turn it in. If I do not get their assignment the day it is due I insert a zero into the gradebook so they know what they are missing and I know what they are missing. If they have a bad grade, it is more than likely because they haven't turned something in.
Also, if students miss days of school, most assignments are available on Google Classroom. They can complete the assignments for the days they missed at home and never skip a beat.
Daily Work: These assignments are mostly graded on effort and completion. This type of work is used to help the student gain experience in the area we are covering and to help them gain a better understanding of the material. Poor effort during this type of activity will not only result in a poor grade for that activity but it will also hurt the student when it comes time to take a Quiz or Unit Test.
Quizzes: These are worth 50 points and normally only ten questions long.
Flashbacks and Exit Slips: Used as a review of material at the beginning of class and the end of class.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM: This is a vital tool that we can utilize here at Monroe County High School and we will be using this app to enhance our learning experience in Geography and United States History. Technology surrounds us daily and using Chromebooks along with Google Classroom will make the learning experience even better.
